Influence of Randomly Uneven Roads on Selected Problems of Motor Vehicle Motion
Abstract
In the paper certain considerations concerning the influence of road irregularities on a vehicle motion have been presented. The adopted maneuver, selected for the simulation in MSC Adams/Car, consisted of vehicle model riding along a straight road section with a constant speed. Two different values of speed for the simulated maneuver have been assumed: 30km/h and 100km/h.As for the randomly uneven road, the main factor influencing the profile in MSC Adams seems to be the parameter called ‘intensity’, which is responsible for increasing or decreasing the amplitude of irregularities. Also in this case two values of intensity have been adopted: 0.3 and 0.9, so that the road surface quality could be taken into account as one of the causes of motion disturbances.Another problem, also taken into account, has been the weather influence. Hence two values of the coefficient of adhesion between the road and the wheel: 0.3 and 0.8, respectively for icy and dry road surface.
